Expansion in Tanzania is Underway!

The MamaToto model is now being replicated in Tanzania! Designed by the HCU team based on over a decade of experience, MamaToto is a package and approach to activities targeting maternal and child health needs for a full district, including community health worker and health provider training. With support from Global Affairs Canada, we are fortunate for the opportunity to extend HCU best practices to two new rural districts (which has a combined population of approximately 1 million people) located near Mwanza, Tanzania. This will involve training thousands more community health worker volunteers and hundreds of health workers, upgrading facility infrastructure, and providing technical support for the local health system. Expertise, mentorship and training by our Ugandan team is key in this undertaking. A related research project will evaluate implementation, identifying gaps, maximizing impact, and highlighting best practices.
